The Snow Globe Winter Magic Advent Calendar - 17" x 16"

A World Inside a Globe: The Snow Globe Winter Magic Advent Calendar

Snow globes have been captivating dreamers since a Parisian toolmaker named Erwin Perzy accidentally invented the modern version in 1900 while trying to improve surgical lamps — legend has it he was experimenting with glass spheres and reflective flakes when he noticed how beautifully they mimicked a snowstorm. This die-cut advent calendar bottles that same little-world magic without any glass or water required, shaping itself into a snow globe brimming with a full winter village: a church steeple, snug cottages, evergreens dusted in white, and a toy train chugging along its circular track around the base.

Open the twenty-four doors tucked into the scene, and you'll uncover little vignettes worthy of an old-fashioned Christmas card — a top-hatted snowman clutching a bouquet of holly and mushrooms, two rosy-cheeked children tumbling along on a sled, a cozy lantern-lit train car strung with garland. Designer Barbara Behr's illustration style has a warm, storybook nostalgia to it, evoking the golden age of European Christmas card art while still feeling perfectly at home on a modern mantel.

A satin ribbon looped at the top of the globe makes this calendar ready to hang the moment it comes out of the package, while a scattering of iridescent glitter gives the "glass" of the globe a genuine wintry shimmer. It's a charming centerpiece for anyone who loves the magic of a snow globe but would rather not risk a shelf mishap.
